I know you did not have any idea it was my birthday, but what I gave myself for my birthday was a night of great fun and music with some of my most favorite people in the world at the Fiddle and Pick! It was great to see and pick with Gretchen, Suzie, Kirk, Ron, Slim and a host of new faces (new to me anyway) - it turned out to be the best present I think I've ever given myself - thanks eveybody! I love you guys! It was a great night of friends and music - and I hope to do it again every time I possibly can.
And just to catch those of you up that might not know what I've been up to for the last year since I started staying pretty much full time in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia at Bobby Don Bloodworth's farm here's the capsule update. Many of you know I have a mobile recording and mastering studio and can do one stop audio production from tracks to Redbook Standard CD-A masters with labels and artwork on location. For the last year my mobile studio has been set up in an old log cabin built by a Cherokee Indian (in the Cherokee building style) somewhere between 1803 and 1805. It is possible and even likely that Cherokee was the historic Chief Doublehead himself. We've been working on several projects in the cabin including
Bobby Don Bloodworth and Gopher Broke Band's next CD/MP3 release, a demo in progress for Ms. Tedi May, almost ready to start mixes for the 9 original songs composed by some of Bobby Don's song writinhg students at the Fannin County Middle School in Blue Ridge, Georgia and performed live at the Fannin Couny Middle and HS end of the school year program, and getting ready for guitar and banjo overdubs for use with a Trout Unlimited jingle written by the song writing class three years ago when song writing became a part of the 7th and 8th grade chorus program at FCMS. Trout Unlimited sponsors a program at Fannin Middle School where they teach middle school students how to raise trout fingerlings at the school in the classroom. During the Spring of the last three years the Chorus has performed a jingle they wrote with Bobby Don Bloodworth specifically for the Trout Hatchling Release ceremony held just below the Blue Ridge Lake Dam on the Toccoa River. Slim and I closed the place down (The Fiddle and Pick) for the Old Time jam and got to play a little longer with Gretchen and a couple of her students after most of the crowd had departed! I get to be her student too in that setting - she's such a wonderful musician and teacher! Thank you Gretchen! You are doing a wonderful thing out there! Keep up the good works!
